Volunteer Mentor
The Volunteer Mentor plays a vital role in guiding and supporting volunteers in their journey towards employment. This position involves supporting with CV development, job search, training, and helping clients develop the skills necessary to secure and maintain employment. The mentor will work closely with the volunteer coordinator to support volunteers who are undertaking a volunteer placement at St Francis Employability and will work closely with the wider employment team and the organisation to refer and support clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Mentoring:

Address barriers stopping clients from progressing towards employment

Help clients set realistic goals and create actionable plans to achieve them

Regularly meet with clients on a 121 basis
-
Capture progress through outcome stars measurements
-
Offer guidance and support in job search strategies, CV writing, interview preparation, and career planning.

Assist clients in identifying their skills, strengths, and areas for development.
Employment Support:
-
Facilitate workshops and training sessions whilst clients undertake their volunteer placement, on sessions centred around job readiness, including topics such as CV building, job search techniques, and communication.

Connect clients with job opportunities by coordinating with the employer engagement officer.

Support clients in completing job applications and preparing for interviews.
Ongoing Support:

Provide continuous support to clients during their volunteering placement, and once they secure employment to help them navigate workplace challenges and maintain their jobs.

Offer advice on career advancement and professional development.
Administrative Duties:

Maintain accurate records of client registrations, interactions, progress, and outcomes using the main database.

Prepare reports and case studies on client achievements.

Assist with the development and evaluation of programme materials and resources.
General Duties:

Manage volunteer placements and deployment when volunteer coordinator is absent

Support the volunteer coordinator when needed

Perform other duties as assigned by the Employment team

Assist with special projects and events as needed.
Qualifications:

Ability to provide constructive feedback and encouragement.

Experience in career guidance, human resources, recruitment, or a related field.

Knowledge of job search strategies, cv writing, and interview techniques.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
