HARP
Health Access Refugees Programme
HARP is a ICB funded pilot project in Coventry aims to enable and empower Refugees and Asylum Seekers to access health services by tackling health inequalities and removing barriers to health access.
We are one of four partners in the project working alongside Coventry City Council Migration team and our activities focus on supporting refugees and asylum seekers to understand their rights to access health services, empowering them to take control of their health needs and access the support they need. We do this through health focused ESOL classes and engagement with health events and professionals throughout the city. This includes referrals to TB and cancer screenings as well as regular tours of the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
We deliver our activities through a 10 week course and our ESOL for Health classes cover the following topics:
-
Accessing the GP
-
Cancer screening
-
Accessing the dentist
-
Emergency Healthcare
-
Healthy eating and exercise
-

-
Mental health and wellbeing
