There is an important date of 23 August 2026 and you may need to take action now.
The Scheme is closed until October 2026 but there is an important date of 23 August 2026 that could affect you receiving the one-off discount of £150 on your electricity bill or prepayment electric meter between November 26 and March 27. (The money is not paid directly to you).
If you’re eligible, your electricity supplier will apply the discount to your bill. You do not need to do anything.
You may be eligible if all of the following apply on 23 August 2026:
your energy supplier is part of the scheme, most of the main suppliers are but you can check at Warm Home Discount Scheme: Energy suppliers - GOV.UK
you (or your partner) get certain means-tested benefits (Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Pension Credit and income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)) – if you or your partner weren’t claiming any of these benefits before 23 August 2026, you will not be eligible.
your name (or your partner’s) is on the electricity bill
Sometimes if you have moved into a property, you may not have told the supplier you have moved in and therefore can miss out. By 23 August 2026 you need to ensure the electric bill is in your or your partner’s name. #
If you have been using a prepayment card that a previous tenant left, it is essential you contact the supplier and open an account with them.#
They may require a copy of your tenancy as evidence of when you moved into the property. If you supply this after 23 August 2026, they may not accept the date you moved into the property and start your account on the day you contacted them and as such you could miss out on the discount.
If you need help after speaking to your electricity supplier, please contact us on 07387 66 83 22 for help to provide them with your tenancy.
