Coventry Building Society Gives STFE Clients a Matchday to Remember!

Thanks to the generosity of Coventry Building Society, a group of our St Francis Employability (STFE) clients had the chance to experience something truly special: an exciting afternoon at a Coventry City FC home match, against Charlton.

For many of our clients - who are rebuilding their confidence, finding their feet in a new country, or working hard to re-enter employment - this wasn’t “just a football game.” It was a rare moment of joy, belonging, and community connection. Some had never been inside a football stadium before; for others, it was their first time doing something fun and social in a long while. The atmosphere, the chants, the shared excitement - it all helped create memories they’re still talking about.

The day became even more meaningful when Doug King, owner of Coventry City FC, came over personally to meet one of our clients. He took the time to chat, shake hands, and make them feel seen and valued. For that client, it was an unforgettable confidence boost- one of those moments that reminds us how powerful human kindness can be.

And, of course… we won the match, which made the day even sweeter! Our group left the stadium smiling, buzzing, and feeling like part of something bigger.

These kinds of opportunities make a huge difference. They help people feel included in their local community, give them positive experiences to share, and remind them that they are supported and welcomed here in Coventry.
